Kai Forbath is officially the second member of the 2012 Washington Redskins to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

On Dec. 5, representatives from the Pro Football Hall of Fame accepted quarterback Robert Griffin III’s jersey and cleats from Washington’s Week 13 victory over the New York Giants after he broke the NFL single-season record for rushing yards by a rookie quarterback.

This time, the Pro Football Hall of Fame came calling for the ball Forbath used last Sunday (see above) to break kicker Garrett Hartley’s record for consecutive field goals made to begin a career. Forbath made two field goals in the 27-20 victory over the Eagles to set the record at 17 straight conversions.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame documented the occasion both on its website and through its Twitter account:

What a terrific accomplishment for Forbath, who has been a model of consistency since he was signed by the team in October. Along the way, he’s had two games in which he’s hit three field goals, he’s hit a game-winner (Week 14 in overtime vs. Baltimore) and his first kick with the team was a career-best 50-yarder.

And he’s still going.

Forbath, by the way, is conducting a Google+ Hangout with fans tomorrow afternoon. Click here for information about how you can tune in.

Forbath is also conducting a giveaway on his own, as he’ll send the first cleat he used with the Redskins — signed — to the first person to correctly answer a trivia question once he reaches the 15,000-follower plateau. Click here for more about that endeavor, and click here to follow Kai on Twitter.
