NFL Films: Redskins-Eagles Preview

Posted by Andrew Walker on December 22, 2012 – 9:30 am

The Washington Redskins on Sunday travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Lincoln Financial Field is an open-concept stadium with a natural-grass playing surface. The stadium seats 68,532.

The Redskins on Sunday are looking to extend their season-high winning streak to six games. The first three wins came against NFC East opponents (Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants) before toppling two NFC North foes (Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns).

Washington enters the game at 8-6 following their 38-21 victory over the Cleveland Browns last Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Redskins were trailing 14-10 at halftime when, on the Browns’ first possession of the second half, outside linebacker Rob Jackson intercepted a Brandon Weeden pass. Three plays later, running back Alfred Morris scored on a three-yard touchdown, and, after the extra point, the Redskins took a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

Washington rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins, in relief of the injured Robert Griffin III, completed 26-of-37 passes for 329 yards, two touchdowns (both to Leonard Hankerson) and one interception. Morris ran 27 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns. The defense was led by Jackson, who had six tackles, two pass deflections, and one sack, forced fumble and interception each. Linebacker London Fletcher had a team-best seven tackles with his fourth interception of the season.

The Eagles enter Sunday’s game at 4-10 after their 34-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Nov. 13 at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia fought back from a 10-0 deficit to take a 13-10 lead going into halftime, but saw the Bengals score 24 unanswered second-half points to take the game. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 16-of-33 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown and interception each, while receiver Jeremy Maclin caught four passes for 73 yards. The defense was led by a game-best eight tackles by outside linebacker Jamar Chaney, while defensive end Brandon Graham had 2.5 sacks among his six tackles.

The Redskins-Eagles game will be televised by Fox.

On radio, the game will be broadcast locally on ESPN 980 and the Redskins Radio Network.  Larry Michael calls the play-by-play with former Redskins and Hall of Famers Sonny Jurgensen and Sam Huff adding color commentary.  Former Redskin Rick ‘Doc’ Walker reports from the sidelines.
