Has this really happened?

Are the Redskins really one of the Top 10 teams in the NFL?

The short answer is yes.

Riding a five-game winning streak, Washington is the hottest team in the NFC, and it currently co-leads the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. But it’s the Redskins (8-6) that have the clearest path to the divisional title; all they have to do is win their next two games, and it’s theirs.

Easier said than done.

Anyway, when looking at the seven Power Rankings organizations listed below, almost all of them came away very impressed with rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins, who, in his first-career start last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns not only led the Redskins to a 38-21 victory on the road, but completed more than 70 percent of his passes for more than 300 yards, had two touchdowns and his quarterback rating was higher than 100.

Here’s where the Redskins fall with this week’s Power Rankings Roundup (and, yes, those are all single-digit numbers):

The Redskins moved up another three spots to eighth in this week’s AP Pro 32 poll:

CBSSports.com last week actually moved the Redskins down a spot, even though they were on a four-game winning streak. The feeling was that there was concern with Cousins making his first-career start on the road against a team with a three-game winning streak. Well, Cousins shined, and CBSSports.com acknowledged that by moving the Redskins up six whole spots into the Top 10:

The Redskins slow climb up the ESPN.com power rankings was accelerated this week with a four-spot jump to No. 8 overall:

ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano dug further into the ESPN.com rankings:

FoxSports.com’s Brian Billick moved the Redskins up another three spots to No. 8 overall:

NFL.com analyst Elliot Harrison has at times been one of the harshest critics of the Redskins. I didn’t think I’d see the day when Washington would crack his Top 10, but alas:

ProFootballTalk.com/NBC this week was obviously impressed by Cousins:

Sports Illustrated and columnist Don Banks for a second straight week moved the Redskins up three whole spots. Banks makes a good point about the current Redskins’ record when looking at the past couple Super Bowl winners:

Call ESPN customer support 1-888-549-3776 and complain about Rob Parker only bejng suspended for 30 days. It’s an outrage that he didn’t lose his job after such racist comments directed at a kid that’s trying to do everything right! Hail

HTTR!! I knew they could do it with or without Robert Griffin. He has given the team and the fans confidence again. He also help Cousins have the confidence to go out there and win the Game.
