VIDEO: Weeden Mic’d Up Vs. Redskins

The Cleveland Browns have had a very opportunistic defense this season. In one game, they forced eight turnovers against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while in another, they got seven sacks against the Dallas Cowboys.

Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden found out that the Washington Redskins’ defense also likes to take advantage of its own opportunities to make a play.

Weeden was mic’d up for NFL Films for last Sunday’s game against the Redskins at Cleveland Browns Stadium — a 38-21 Washington win — and it’s a perfect representation of the ups and downs that can occur for an NFL quarterback throughout a game.

The entire mic’d up video is below, but here’s a few highlights from a Redskins perspective:

– The video isn’t completely in order. At the beginning, it shows a Barry Cofield sack of Weeden (with his awesome Taser celebration), followed by a Kirk Cousins interception. The Cofield sack occurred in the fourth quarter with 4:18 left in the game; Cousins’ interception, meanwhile, occurred with 9:02 remaining in the first quarter.

– You see a few great plays from the Redskins’ defense from alternate angles, like the aforementioned sack by Cofield, a sack/fumble by outside linebacker Rob Jackson, and interceptions by Jackson and middle linebacker London Fletcher.

– There’s some back-and-forth between Weeden and Browns quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple, who at one point tells his rookie quarterback: “They’ve got a good defense. It’s like a playoff game. They’re gonna play their a** off.”

– At the end, Weeden greets fellow rookie quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Cousins. Weeden tells Griffin III to get healthy, while Cousins tells Weeden that he’s talented and that he has a great career ahead of him.
