Several Redskins On PFF Pro Bowl Roster

Fan voting for the 2013 NFL Pro Bowl is officially over, and the league’s coaches and players don’t vote until later this week, but four prominent members of the Washington Redskins’ offense have already made the NFC Pro Bowl roster — at least to the folks at ProFootballFocus.com.

The organization today released its own Pro Bowl rosters, and quarterback Robert Griffin III, running back Alfred Morris, left tackle Trent Williams and center Will Montgomery all made the cut.

Here’s what ProFootballFocus.com had to say about each Redskins’ performance so far this season:

Griffin III (also at quarterback were the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers and the Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan):

“In the end it was Griffin who took the honors on the PFF ballot on the back of his playmaking ability and efficiency in helping the Redskins to compete for a playoff spot.”

Morris (also at running back were the Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson and the Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch):

“…Alfred Morris whose bruising and determined running style makes him one of the toughest running backs in the league to bring down. Morris just edges out fellow rookie Doug Martin who exploded onto the scene around mid-season but has been somewhat inconsistent in the last month as the Buccaneers have fallen away from the playoff race.”

Williams (also at tackle were the San Francisco 49ers Joe Staley and the Falcons’ Tyson Clabo):

“This has been a much improved season for tackle play and Trent Williams has continued his development in Washington excelling in both areas of his game…”

Montgomery (also at center was the Vikings’ John Sullivan):

“In the end the consistency and fine pass protection (one game aside) of Will Montgomery ensured the Redskins’ center edged the competition.”

ProFootballFocus did not place any Redskins’ defensive or special teams players on their 2013 Pro Bowl rosters. I think Washington fullback Darrel Young and special teamer (and linebacker/athlete) Lorenzo Alexander also deserve nods, but it’s always great to see such recognition for any Redskins player, let alone four of them.

CHIME IN: What do YOU think of the Redskins’ representatives on ProFootballFocus’ 2013 Pro Bowl roster? Feel free to comment below.

Unfortunately the Pro Bowl voting is rarely based on performance for the season it’s played in, it’s all about star names and popularity.
Would love to Will Montgomery and Alexander both go – and both hugely deserving – but they don’t play for the Patriots or Packers.

What about London Fletcher? He should make it EVERY year. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves!
