If You Texted Kirk Cousins, He’s Sorry

Kirk Cousins is a really nice guy and tries to respond to every text message he receives.

But when 140 people flood his inbox immediately after a game, only close family members make the cut to get immediate responses.

Cousins today was asked how many people reached out to him after he helped lead the Redskins to their 31-28 overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday at FedExField, and said 140 people — ironically the same number of characters allowed per tweet in Twitter — texted him by Monday morning.

“And I think I responded to two,” Cousins said. “I called my dad, talked to my parents, talked to my siblings, my brother and sister, talked to my grandparents and that was about it.”

Cousins also had a special message for the 137 people he ignored.

“I want to apologize to the other 137 people I haven’t responded to,” he said. “You’re probably not going to get a response. I’ll see you in the offseason.”

Cousins — who relieved injured quarterback Robert Griffin III in the final minutes of last Sunday’s victory — said being a backup quarterback doesn’t usually lead to many congratulatory messages after games.

“It has been a little unique,” the rookie said. “I hadn’t been getting 137 text messages after the previous few games.”

By the way, those of you who want to send Cousins a message without dishing out his phone number can do so by tweeting at him.

Great effort in leading the Redskins to their win over the Ravens! Glad to see that our Quarterbacks are focused on their jobs versus texting on their phones. Staying focused will win games and I am confident that wins are coming for this TEAM!
