Morris’ ‘Welcome To The NFL’ Moment

Posted by Andrew Walker on December 6, 2012 – 5:30 pm

Alfred Morris AMA

Alfred Morris today revealed with those participating in his reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview that he finally had his “Welcome To The NFL” moment on Monday night vs. the New York Giants.

On 3rd and 3 with 1:07 left in a game that the Redskins were leading 17-16, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III handed the ball off to Morris as the Redskins relied on their rookie running back to seal the victory. He did just that, gaining six yards and earning the first down, and Griffin III was able to take a knee from that point to officially win the game for the Redskins.

Morris was asked today by redditor “brownboss”  what his “wow, I can’t believe I’m here” moment was:

“The Monday night 3rd [down] conversion,” Morris wrote.

It was just one of many terrific questions asked in his AMA, which will continue with linebacker/athlete/special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander next Thursday.

Here’s a recap of some of the better (OK, more off-the-wall) AMA questions for Morris today with his answers:

mooseeatmouse asks: “Do you and RGIII have a special “we are bada** rookies in the NFL” handshake?”
Morris: “lol No but maybe we should, hmmm…”

I’m really hoping they break it out Sunday vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

Apples212 asks: “Would you rather fight 100 duck sized JJ Watts or 1 Horse sized Clay Matthews?”
Morris: “lol I like a challenge so I would go with the horse sized Clay Matthews”

Yes, but as eCDKEY points out: “Don’t underestimate 100 smaller JJ Watts”

ThatChrisDodge asks: “Alfred, thank you so much for stopping by and chatting with us. All the fans at /r/Redskins say hi! I very much enjoyed watching you run all over The Giants and secure a win with that 3rd down conversion at the end of the game. What does a normal week look like as a member of The Washington Redskins? How do you prepare for and approach each game? Stay healthy and keep ripping off yardage all the way to the postseason!

Morris: “Loooonggg days! I go from 6 to 6 each day. Not all of it is practice and meetings. I spend time in the training room doing preventative maintenance. Each game is new from the previous, all with various challenges, whether it be defensive fronts or odd looks. I film study a lot and study various players and their tendencies to find ways to beat them. Thanks, will do!”

Don’t forget about dealing with the media and setting time aside to do AMAs…

Stay tuned for more!
