Kerrigan On Large Ducks, Movie Armrests

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 29, 2012 – 5:20 pm

Ryan Kerrigan says he’s more of a “numbers guy” and would rather fight one horse-sized duck than 100 duck-sized horses.

OK, I swear we haven’t completely lost it. This was just one of the many awesome questions Kerrigan addressed today in his reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview.

The Redskins became the first NFL team to partner with reddit for these AMAs, which will continue each Thursday for the remainder of the season. Kerrigan’s AMA today kicked the series off.

As it turns out, reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is a huge Redskins fan.

“So many NFL teams — and television series, brands, and political campaigns — have active subreddits that they’re not tapping into,” Ohanian said. “The subreddits are created and maintained by super devoted fans — by engaging the subreddits, the teams could be directly connecting with some of their biggest advocates and evangelists.”

Here’s a recap of some of the better (OK, more off-the-wall) AMA questions for Kerrigan today with his answers:

JMUDukes1750 asks: “As a native of Indiana, are you any good at basketball?”
Kerrigan: “No. I was a benchwarmer throughout most of high school. I’d come in at the end of the games whenever the game was well in-hand. It was a lot of fun though and being from Indiana, basketball is in your blood so I enjoyed being a part of our team. But aside from the occasional dunk in the Junior Varsity games, I was a liability on the court.”

You’ve got to admire his honesty.

Lucky asks: “Hey Ryan! I have two questions, in varying subjects. Who was your favorite player growing up? What is your policy on movie theater armrests? HTTR”
Kerrigan: “Great questions. My favorite player growing up was Peyton Manning. What he did for the Colts and how he changed the course of that franchise was phenomenal.

As far as armrests go, I believe all movie theaters should have movable armrests. Thus, preventing any fisticuffs with unruly moviegoers.”

Solid answers.

umdred11 asks: “Hey Ryan! Huge Redskins fan here. First, what are your thoughts on the Big Ten expansion? Secondly, would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?”
Kerrigan: “Well, I haven’t paid as much attention to this expansion as I did when Nebraska came on board simply because it seems like schools are switching conferences every day now. But I think getting these Eastern schools involved is a good thing, broadens the brand that is the Big Ten.

I’d have to fight one horse-sized duck. I’m a numbers guy, and the thought of 100 of anything being against is not a good thought. Bring on that damn duck!”

What an odd question. Who cares about Big Ten expansion?

You catch the drift. We’ve set up rookie running back Alfred Morris to host a reddit AMA Dec. 6, and then linebacker/athlete/special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander will host on Dec. 12, football schedules permitting.

Stay tuned for more!
