Twitter has made it official: the Redskins this past week were king of the NFL social media world.

Twitter announced today that last Thursday’s Redskins-Cowboys matchup was the “most buzzed-about” game of the week, while Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was the league’s most-tweeted about player.

Neither are very surprising, especially considering we whooped up on the Cowboys in our Thanksgiving Day Social Media Showdown.

But, in case you missed them, here were some of the best tweets from the Redskins players after that Dallas game, which the Redskins won, 38-31:

Redskins Nation: Tribute To Sean Taylor

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 27, 2012 – 12:23 pm

It’s so hard to believe that just five years ago was one of the most tragic days in Washington Redskins history.

In the early morning of Nov. 27, 2007, the worst of fears were confirmed when Sean Taylor — one of the top, young talents in the National Football League — died from complications stemming from gunshot wounds suffered at the hands of an armed intruder at his Miami home just a day before. He was 24 years old.

The entire Redskins organization was left in shambles emotionally, but the truly tragic part about Taylor’s death was that he was survived by an 18-month-old daughter and his high-school sweetheart.

At the time of his death, Taylor had developed into one of the most feared safeties in the NFL. After being drafted fifth overall by the Redskins in the 2004 NFL Draft, the Miami product was named a first alternate to the Pro Bowl after a stellar rookie season. In 2006, Taylor had a team-high 129 tackles (89 solo), one interception and three forced fumbles and was voted to the Pro Bowl.

For his career, Taylor had 344 tackles (245 solo), 12 interceptions, 41 passes defended and four forced fumbles. He was named to the 2007 Pro Bowl posthumously, as well as inducted into the Redskins Ring of Fame.

Here’s a touching video tribute to Taylor produced by “Redskins Nation,” which airs Monday through Friday (at 5:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (7:30 a.m.):

VIDEO: Richmond OKs Training Camp

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 27, 2012 – 10:59 am

The Washington Redskins officially have a new training camp home.

The Richmond City Council late last night unanimously approved a motion that will see the Redskins’ training camp move from its Ashburn, Va., headquarters to Richmond, Va., effective next summer.

In doing so, Bon Secours Richmond Health System has officially become the major Redskins training camp sponsor of the new site, which sits on 17 acres off Leigh Street behind the Science Museum of Virginia.

The Bon Secours Redskins Training Center will feature two brand new practice fields, a drills field, a state-of-the-art Fieldhouse and sports medicine facility, as well as plenty of room for fans.

Here’s a video from last night’s City Council meeting, which includes input from several Richmond residents about the positive impact the Redskins’ training camp will bring to their city, as well as some comments from Redskins general manager Bruce Allen, who was asked about the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and what having training camp will mean to Richmond:

Morris, Griffin III For Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 27, 2012 – 9:03 am

Redskins fans, you’ve got a tough decision this week, but it’s a problem that 31 other fan bases would love to have.

This week, both quarterback Robert Griffin III and running back Alfred Morris are nominees for the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award.

Both Griffin III and Morris have already won the award at least once this season. Griffin III — the reigning NFL Rookie of the Week — has won it an astounding four times so far this season, while Morris won the award after his top-notch performance Week 7 against the New York Giants.

So whatever method you choose to pick between Griffin III and Morris — whether it be ‘eenie meenie miney mo,’ rock-paper-scissors or just blindly poking your screen — do it, and do it often.

Voting is easy:
