VIDEO: Gibbs On Cowboys, Chapel

It’s a safe bet to say Joe Gibbs knows a thing or two about the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry.

Gibbs — the legendary Redskins coach who won three Super Bowl titles with the team in the 1980s and early 1990s — stopped by Redskins Park for a visit today and spoke with Larry Michael, the Voice of the Redskins, about that rivalry with the Cowboys.

“I think that’s probably one of the things that people ask me [about what] I miss is that, it’s the great rivalry between the Cowboys and the Redskins,” Gibbs said. “One thing about that game: you’re either a Redskin or you’re a Cowboy — there’s nobody in-between.”

Gibbs also cleared the air on a recent report that he gave the Cowboys a pregame speech earlier this season.

“Please set this straight. I did a chapel service,” Gibbs said with a smile. “I was talking about the Lord. Not anything about football.”

Here’s the full interview with Michael, which took place in front of those three beautiful Lombardi Trophies:

LISTEN: Robert Griffin III Conference Call

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 20, 2012 – 6:04 pm

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III today participated in a conference call with the Dallas-area media in preparation for Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Cowboys.

And, yes, Griffin III was wearing a WWE title belt while doing the conference call (see above). “4th & Pain,” the weekly professional-wrestling and football radio show hosted by Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker and Chuck Carroll, had presented Griffin III with the title belt earlier in the day as an award they hand out to their player of the week.

Anyway, Griffin III fielded a variety of question from the Dallas media about his “homecoming” on Thursday. Griffin III, of course, is from Texas and won the Heisman Trophy last year at Baylor.

He was also asked about being named a captain, his role in the offense, playing at Cowboys Stadium and a whole mess of other topics. Here’s the full audio:

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 20, 2012 – 9:00 am

With a win on and off the field against the Philadelphia Eagles this past weekend, it’s time to focus on a Thanksgiving Day thrashing of the hated Dallas Cowboys.

Participate in the Redskins-Cowboys social media Tug of War — which begins today and ends at the conclusion of Thursday afternoon’s game at Cowboys Stadium — and you can further prove that Redskins fans own the NFC East.

Just as the Redskins players will be battling on the field Thursday, we need you fans to do your part off of the field to ensure victory. Here’s how to get involved:

Vote Griffin III For Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 20, 2012 – 8:39 am

By Friday, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III could win his fourth Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award — but it’s going to take another massive effort by Redskins fans to do it.

Griffin III was nominated for his near-perfect (and, by some standards, perfect) execution Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, a game in which the Redskins won, 31-6. He completed 14-of-15 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a game-best 84 yards.

Griffin III faces some tough competition in this week’s NFL Rookie of the Week voting, so here’s how to vote — and vote often:
