Washington Redskins longsnapper Nick Sundberg on Sunday appeared in his first game since suffering a broken arm Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.

Sundberg — who suffered the injury just before halftime but decided to play the rest of the game — said he felt like his old self Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, who the Redskins defeated 31-6.

The injury occurred when, after snapping the ball to punter Sav Rocca, Sundberg threw out his arms to block. His left arm was squeezed between a helmet and a facemask and the bone snapped.

It didn’t take long for Sundberg to test his arm for the first time on Sunday, as he was sent out to snap for an extra-point attempt after the Redskins scored not even two minutes into the game.

“Muscle memory is a crazy thing,” Sundberg said after the game. “Honestly, my first reaction was just to throw my arms out there. There was no pain there, so I just kept doing it.”

Sundberg said he only really experienced one issue in his first game back.

“In the game, the only thing that was bothersome was just having that stupid brace on it,” he said. “It kept sliding down my arm, so I had to keep re-taping it. Other than that, there was no pain or anything like that.”

Sundberg — who remained a fixture at Redskins Park throughout his recovery — said he was happy to come back Sunday and be part of such a dominating Redskins win.

“It was awesome to be here again and see everybody play so well and play together and be excited for each other,” he said. “I’m just excited to be back and part of the team again.”

Oh, and by the way, the Redskins are 2-0 with Sundberg as their longsnapper this season.

“No big deal or anything,” Sundberg said with a laugh.
