Most seasons, the matchup between two 3-6 teams in the NFL wouldn’t signify much.

But that’s certainly not the case for Sunday’s game at FedExField.

The Redskins (3-6) play host to the Eagles (3-6) in a matchup of two teams hanging on for dear life to stay relevant in playoff discussions. Counting Sunday’s game, the Redskins have five divisional games left and stand just two games back in the loss column of the NFC East-leading New York Giants (6-4) and one game back of the second-place Dallas Cowboys (4-5).

With that in mind, here’s where the Redskins are perceived by various national media outlets compared to the rest of the league in this week’s Power Rankings Roundup. It doesn’t look good now, of course, but a run by the Redskins and these rankings will obviously improve:

After their Bye Week, the Redskins fell from 22nd to 23rd in this week’s AP Pro 32 power rankings:

CBSSports.com’s ranked the Redskins the lowest out of all the included outlets this week, at No. 26:

The Redskins dropped two spots from 19th to 21st in ESPN.com’s power rankings:

ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano dug further into the ESPN.com rankings:

FoxSports.com’s Brian Billick has the Redskins at 20th overall and acknowledges the team’s NFC East travels ahead will be challenging:

NFL.com analyst Elliot Harrison’s places the Redskins at No. 25 and encourages head coach Mike Shanahan to use more rollout plays:

ProFootballTalk.com/NBC this week has the Redskins at No. 24 overall:

Sports Illustrated and columnist Don Banks this week feels the Redskins could be a major player in the NFC East race this season:
