Week 11 Power Rankings Roundup

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 16, 2012 – 2:11 pm

Most seasons, the matchup between two 3-6 teams in the NFL wouldn’t signify much.

But that’s certainly not the case for Sunday’s game at FedExField.

The Redskins (3-6) play host to the Eagles (3-6) in a matchup of two teams hanging on for dear life to stay relevant in playoff discussions. Counting Sunday’s game, the Redskins have five divisional games left and stand just two games back in the loss column of the NFC East-leading New York Giants (6-4) and one game back of the second-place Dallas Cowboys (4-5).

With that in mind, here’s where the Redskins are perceived by various national media outlets compared to the rest of the league in this week’s Power Rankings Roundup. It doesn’t look good now, of course, but a run by the Redskins and these rankings will obviously improve:

Kerrigan Answers Qs, Hands Out Tickets

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 16, 2012 – 12:33 pm

So we learned yesterday that Ryan Kerrigan would be a math teacher/football coach if he wasn’t in the NFL, he’s a bandwagon fan, he still gets nervous before football games and that he considers teammate London Fletcher the most underrated player in the league.

Kerrigan was participating in the second @Redskins Player Twitter Takeover, in which he actually got in front of our laptops and had control of the @Redskins Twitter account for a good half-hour or so. Rookie running back Alfred Morris was our first @Redskins Player Twitter Takeover participant, which happened on Tuesday.

Kerrigan on Thursday also surprised our followers by handing out two pairs of tickets to Sunday’s Redskins-Eagles NFC East showdown at FedExField to whoever could answer a special Kerrigan-themed trivia question (see below).

Here’s the entire @Redskins Ryan Kerrigan Twitter Takeover from yesterday:

MIC’D UP: Baker Active At Play 60 Event

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 16, 2012 – 11:00 am

Chris “Swaggy” Baker knows the importance of trying to stay in shape as a youngster in his early teens.

Baker said he was about 6-feet tall and weighed around 200 pounds by the time he was 10 years old, so his incredible size and strength was both a blessing and a curse.

Baker and running back Alfred Morris on Tuesday went to Godwin Middle School for an NFL Play 60 event in which the 2012 Play 60 Super School of the Year was also awarded a $10,000 check to further physical education.

Baker talked with the kids about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and then let his actions do the talking by going through the various Play 60 stations with the students (see above).

Spoiler: the video ends with Baker and a group of students imitating “Happy Days” character Arthur Fonzarelli (see right).

Anyway, Tuesday’s event certainly wasn’t the first time the colorful Baker has been caught on camera showing off his swagalicious style.

VIDEO: Redskins-Eagles Weather Update

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 16, 2012 – 10:02 am

For mid-November, Sunday’s game between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles won’t be too bad for those braving the elements at FedExField.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-to-upper 40s throughout the morning and up to kickoff, when it could hit as high as 50 degrees.

The sun could even make an appearance throughout the day, though skies are expected to be partly cloudy.

Here’s a video with the weather update for Sunday’s Redskins-Eagles game, courtesy of AccuWeather.com and NFL.com:

The Redskins, originating from the Boston Braves, won both games in Boston before locating to Washington, D.C., in 1937. The Eagles, originating in Philadelphia in 1933, have always played in the City of Brotherly Love. Both the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field and NocaCare Training Complex are located in Philadelphia.

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 16, 2012 – 8:04 am

Darrel Young may seem quiet and shy in the video above, but trust me — he is not quiet and shy.
