Follow 2012 Homecoming Festivities LIVE

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 4, 2012 – 9:36 am

The annual Washington Redskins Homecoming festivities are almost underway.

The Washington Redskins will welcome the “10 for 80” honorees, along with more than 150 other Redskins greats, for the team’s annual homecoming game today against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m, but the Homecoming festivities begin at 10 a.m. and can be seen LIVE and exclusively on Redskins.com.

Here’s how to follow along with Homecoming if you can’t make it today:

The homecoming celebrations will feature an alumni parade with the Redskins Marching Band and Cheerleaders, which will begin at 10 a.m. Follow the Redskins on Twitter and Instagram for coverage — including videos and photos — from the parade.

Then, check out Redskins.com for LIVE video of the pregame festivities, such annual alumni group photo and the introduction of former players and coaches in attendance, as well as the halftime “10 for 80” ceremony.

Those honorees — LaVar Arrington, Bobby Beathard, Joe Bugel, Terry Hermeling, Jon Jansen, Roy Jefferson, Richie Petitbon, Clinton Portis, Chris Samuels and Sean Taylor — will join the 70 Greatest Redskins named in 2002 to complete the 80 Greatest Redskins of All-Time.

The current team will also be honoring the former Redskins legends in attendance, as well as the team’s 80th anniversary, by wearing their new 2012 “anniversary” NFL Nike Elite 51 football uniforms. The uniforms are a modern interpretation of those worn back in 1937 — a year signifying the team’s move from Boston to Washington, D.C., as well as their first National Championship.
