Washington Redskins alumni Dexter Manley and Charlie Brown — each of whom won at least one Super Bowl title with the Redskins — will be making appearances at Washington, D.C.- area stores this Saturday and signing bottles of RESERVE, the Redskins’ 80th-anniversary commemorative wine.

Reserve is now located at more than 380 retail stores in the Washington, D.C., region. We invite you to celebrate in style with this limited edition Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon created especially for the team by Nick Goldschmidt, an internationally acclaimed winemaker.

The last time the team authorized a commemorative wine was 30 years ago — don’t wait another 30 years and reserve your bottle or case of Redskins Reserve today.

VIDEO: Redskins-Panthers Weather Update

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 1, 2012 – 4:34 pm

Redskins fans, break out the jackets. Sunday’s going to be a chilly one.

Fortunately, however, it looks like the rain will stay away — something that hasn’t exactly been a theme here lately on the East Coast.

You’ll be looking at about 38 degrees at 10 a.m. at FedExField as the Homecoming festivities — such as the parade — start to get underway. That temperature will rise to about 45 degrees by kickoff at 1 p.m., and we’ll all be sweating by the game’s end, when temperatures are expected to approach 50 degrees.

Here’s a video with the weather update for Sunday’s Redskins-Panthers game, courtesy of AccuWeather.com and NFL.com:

Memory Lane For Bruce & George Allen

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 1, 2012 – 12:25 pm

The Washington Redskins’ annual Homecoming Weekend festivities get underway in a couple of days, so who better to take a walk down Redskins memory lane than two sons of one of the greatest coaches in franchise history?

Bruce Allen — the current general manager of the Redskins — and George Allen — the former governor of Virginia — took a stroll down the “Hail To The Redskins Walk” yesterday at Redskins Park, and Redskins.com was there with our cameras.

The Allen’s father, George, who lived by the mantra “the future is now,” was a 2002 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee who compiled a 116-47-5 regular season record as the Redskins’ head coach from 1971 through 1977.

Here’s the first video of Bruce and George Allen talking about the Redskins greats:

Series History: Redskins-Panthers

The Redskins have played the Panthers on 10 occasions in the regular season and the postseason combined, beginning in 1995. Washington on Sunday is looking to snap a two-game losing streak to Carolina.

The Panthers have played in Carolina since their inaugural season as an NFL expansion team in 1995. The Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium is also home to their practice facilities and headquarters.

The Redskins won the first-ever matchup between the two teams, 20-17, on Dec. 24, 1995, at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. In that game, the two teams were knotted at 10-10 going into halftime before the Redskins scored a third-quarter touchdown on a Terry Allen 1-yard run and added a Eddie Murray 32-yard field goal to seal the win. The Redskins had 151 rushing yards on the day, led by Allen’s 92.
