Three ‘Skins Whippersnappers Make List

There’s certainly lots to be excited about if you’re a Washington-area sports fan.

Each professional sports team has at least one young superstar that they can point to as the future of their franchise.

According to a list released today by CSN Washington, the Washington Redskins have three young superstars who rank among the best at their positions in their respective sports.

OK, so the three photos above kind of spoil exactly which three Redskins appear on the list, which ranks “The Top 10 DC Pro Athletes 25 And Under,” but here’s exactly where they fall in the rankings:

• No. 10 — Running back Alfred Morris:

“With a punishing running style and bruising power, Alfred Morris gives the Washington Redskins their best presence at running back in the Mike Shanahan era. Just a rookie and only 23-years-old, Morris could be a factor in the Skins backfield for some time.”

• No. 6 — Outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan:

“Ryan Kerrigan, 24, has become a disruptive force for the Washington Redskins defensive line. In his first month in the NFL, Kerrigan was named Defensive Rookie of the Month, and the young linebacker has a proven ability to get to the football and find the end zone.”

• No. 1 — Quarterback Robert Griffin III:

“RG3, age 22, has become the most dynamic playmaker in the NFL. His unique combination of throwing accuracy, poise in the pocket, and blazing speed ranks him as the top athlete under 25 in DC. And maybe the world.”

So there you have it. I think you could also make a case for Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, 24, who is putting together a Pro Bowl-worthy performance so far this season and doing a tremendous job protecting Griffin III’s blind side.

But there’s only so many spots on this list — and so many awesome young athletes in the D.C. area to fill it.
