Having a big, come-from-behind win against the defending Super Bowl champs on the road within your grasps and seeing it just slip away is probably one of the toughest scenarios for an NFL player.
That’s what happened today to the Washington Redskins, who made a final push to pull ahead of the New York Giants before seeing two-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Eli Manning take the game right back with a long touchdown pass to Victor Cruz.
Several Redskins players were tweeting after the game about the loss; some of them were raving about Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III; some were talking about the loss of tight end Fred Davis, who is out for the year with a torn Achilles; and others were talking about lessons learned:
Safety Reed Doughty:
Tough loss. Hard to win division games on the road. Its awesome knowing that with @RGIII we are never out of a game.—

Quarterback Robert Griffin III:

Great job on Sunday by the Coaches and Players of the Washington Redskins. I was fortunate to be at the game and couldn’t quit smiling with the team effort that I saw. I am confident that if the Players stay focused and continue to play like a TEAM, the wins will come!
Hail to the Redskins!

I was there as well…can’t help but talk about ourselves first and foremost, can we? Anyway, what a game!! Turnovers and penalties were significant in this loss, not just the fact that Cruz beat the D-Backs at the end. The Redskins (minus the mistakes they made) could have won the game going away, so it’s very disappointing.
Shake it off and go to PIttsburgh, I guess-can someone ask Haslett to figure out SOMETHING to get that d-backfield in order????? I ain’t a coach, so I’m not going to say it’s him, or Raheem Morris, or the players, but something HAS to change there, and quick!

That DEFENSE is horrible period. RG3 cant do it by himself period! If they don’t draft some LBS and Dbs, Hasslet need to be fired, so what if there are key injuries, they are all professionals getting millions to play. GET THAT D together PLEASE!

Ive been a reskins fan and my family has been for generations before and to come. The problem is not with Haslett as the DC of the defense. It is with the DB Coach Morris. Our defense is overall in the better half with the league. Its just and only the DB’s who are letting little and big pass plays constant and consistantly. Like before the first half of the Giants game. We were keeping the player tackled in bounds to keep the clock running, but we were giving up 10-20 yard passing completions almost every time. You would think that knowing that with less than two minutes to go in a game. KNOWING that the Giants will have to throw to get down the field to set up a game tying FG or go ahead touchdown. That maybe our DB coach would of had the players play a 2 deep safety zone, or even put all the speedy DB’s in on defense so that there were enough speed to cover all angles. BUT NOOOOOOOOO. KNOWING that Cruz was the fastest player on the field at that time, and you still let him split two DB’s easily by 10 yards. If I were coaching, I would of dropped the 2 safeties about 25 yards off the line of scrimmage and with the streaking WR, Made sure they were in front of him and not let him get behind them. Our whole DB’s need to get cut and bring in all new rookie or practice squad players. Our DB’s take the game of football for granted and are losing us the games that we lose. We have been ahead in every single game this year, I have watched every single snap. But when we are getting beat, its DeAngelo Hall, Josh Wilson, Reed Doughty, and Brandon Meariweather. I enjoy an aggressive defense, but not when you know that the other team has to score to tie or win. There was no reason to send 7 or 8 in the box that pass play with manning and cruz. He should of brought in 5 DB’s, 2 for deep safety, and the 3 stretching the whole field in zone reads and then sent 5 after manning and let one MLB shadow manning and the other shadow the RBs. I know that we are the only team with an interception in every game this year, but we are dead last in plays of 20 or more yards on defense, and I think 5th against the run. Only 7 teams in the league havent allowed a 100 yard rusher and we are one of them. WE NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE OR WE WILL BE WATCHING THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN THIS YEAR ON TV, we have the talent and capabilities to score on anyone and beat them. DEFENSIVE BACKS, STOP LETTING THE REDSKINS NATION DOWN!
