The Redskins continue their weekly roller-coaster ride up and down various organizations’ NFL power rankings lists this week with another high point.
The correlation is simple: when the Redskins have won, they have been ranked higher. When they lose, their ranking typically goes down.
Everybody love simple math.
Anyway, I also got to this point of the season without ever including the new Associated Press’ “Pro 32″ weekly poll, which is comprised of a national panel of 12 voters and was created from the 50 sports writers and broadcasters who choose the NFL’s individual awards at the end of the season.
So here’s this week’s Power Rankings Roundup, this time with the AP Pro 32 included:
The AP Pro 32 panel has the Redskins all the way up at No. 13 this week, one step below the Eagles (12th) and six spots ahead of the Cowboys (19th), where Washington was ranked last week:
CBSSports.com’s rankings and its explanation make absolutely zero sense this week, where the Redskins drop a spot from 19th to 20th on columnist Pete Prisco’s list. The Redskins show they can close out games, the defense impressed with the takeaways, the Redskins won — but they drop a spot? Tell me how that makes any sense:
The Redskins moved up six spots from 21st to 15th this week in ESPN.com’s power rankings. Phew — this one makes sense. I’m still stewing over the CBS rankings above:
ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano dug further into the ESPN.com rankings:
FoxSports.com’s Brian Billick this week put the Redskins at No. 11 overall, the highest ranking they’ve achieved all season:
NFL.com analyst Elliot Harrison hasn’t been the biggest believer in the Redskins this season, but they are slowly moving up his list — up three spots to 20th overall on his list, to be exact:
ProFootballTalk.com/NBC has the Redskins at No. 16. That’s really all the analysis they offer:
And, finally, Sports Illustrated and columnist Don Banks also haven’t been too impressed with the Redskins — until this week, when they moved up five spots to No. 16:
