Alfred Morris is just now getting some national love for his stellar rookie season thus far for the Washington Redskins.

For example: the running back this week joins Robert Griffin III in the top five of ESPN.com Matt Williamson’s weekly “Rookie Watch” column, which ranks the best rookies of the 2012 season.

Williamson had some high praise for Morris, the Redskins’ sixth-round pick out of Florida Atlantic in April’s NFL Draft, who comes in at No. 5 this week:

Week 5 Power Rankings Roundup

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 11, 2012 – 11:27 am

Various NFL experts and analysts seem to agree one two things after the Washington Redskins’ narrow Week 5 loss to the undefeated Atlanta Falcons: the Redskins played the Falcons tough, and quarterback Robert Griffin III needs to exercise a little more caution when running with the ball.

This was reflected in most of the experts’ various Week 5 power rankings, in which the Redskins weren’t penalized too much for their 24-17 loss to the Falcons.

A win against the surprising 4-1 Minnesota Vikings Sunday at FedExField would probably work wonders for the Redskins (2-3), who would get back to .500 and end an eight-game home losing streak.

Anyway, here’s the power rankings roundup:

The Redskins have played the Vikings on 21 occasions in the regular season and the postseason combined, beginning in 1968. Sunday’s game represents the third straight season in which the Redskins will host the Vikings at FedExField.

The Vikings have played in Minnesota since their inaugural season in 1961. The Vikings’ Hubert H. Metrodome is located about 15 miles from the team’s practice facility in Eden Prairie, Minn.

The Redskins lost the first-ever matchup between the two teams, 27-14, on Nov. 3, 1968, in Minnesota. In that game, the Redskins trailed 27-0 into the fourth quarter before scoring 14 unanswered points to end the game.

Washington quarterback Harry Theofiledes, in relief of starter Sonny Jurgensen, connected on 3-of-5 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown to tight end Pat Richter. Rickie Harris and Brig Owens each had interceptions for the Redskins’ defense. The Vikings’ defense, meanwhile, limited the Washington offense to just 133 total yards, including 41 on the ground, and sacked the Redskins’ quarterbacks eight times and forced three lost fumbles.

PHOTO: Carriker Dressed As Goldberg?

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 11, 2012 – 9:21 am

(Hint: this is not the photo mentioned in the headline. Read on for more…)

Washington Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker is a man of his word.

He has recently struck up a friendship with one of his idols, wrestling legend Goldberg, and the two placed a friendly bet with each other about last Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Redskins.

Goldberg — himself a former defensive end with the Atlanta Falcons — agreed to wear a Redskins jersey if Washington won, while Carriker — who co-hosts a wrestling/football radio show, 4th & Pain — agreed to dress up like Goldberg if Atlanta won.

Well, the Falcons ended up winning 24-17 to move to 5-0, and we’ll let Carriker tell you his philosophy:

So, Carriker took to the Redskins locker room — oiled up and speedo and all — and took the following photo (warning: this isn’t for the faint of heart and definitely not for you currently eating your breakfast:)
