Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III this week was encouraged via Twitter to come to a D.C.-area high school’s football game to support the school’s Friday-night breast cancer awareness endeavors.
And that’s exactly what Griffin III did.
Griffin III made a surprise visit to Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Va., and watched the host Spartans defeat Patriot High School, 34-20.
According to writer Sean Ferrell with Ashburn Patch, Broad Run students began sending tweets to the Redskins rookie quarterback this week inviting him to their “Pink’d”-themed game in support of the Loudoun Breast Health Network.
Griffin III then made his Friday-night plans known when he tweeted this:
What quarter is the Pink'd game at broad run high school in?—

Griffin III then showed up to the game, sending the crowd into a frenzy. He was given a “Pink’d” T-shirt and signed autographs and took photos with the same Broad Run High School students who were responsible for getting him there in the first place.
“It’s been a great way to spread the [Pink'd] message,” Broad Run student Will Metzfield told Ashburn Patch. “It was amazing.”
Griffin III tweeted this after the game:
Appreciate where you came & you will always appreciate where you are & where you can go. S/O to Broad Run High getting the W & for Pink'd—

And this:
