Redskins Grace Sports Illustrated Cover

Posted by Andrew Walker on September 26, 2012 – 2:19 pm

For the second time in two weeks, the Washington Redskins have made the cover of Sports Illustrated.

It happened Sept. 12 when rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III became the seventh Redskins quarterback in team history to become the Sports Illustrated cover boy.

Now, the Redskins are part of a series of cover stories about the resurgence of sports in the Washington, D.C., era.

Here’s a photo of this week’s cover, via Sports Illustrated’s Twitter account:

So it’s Griffin III, again, who becomes the focus of the Sports Illustrated cover — which is not surprising. He’s among a slew of other D.C.-area stars like the Washington Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper, the Washington Wizards’ John Wall, the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin and the Baltimore Orioles’ Adam Jones who are leading this resurgence.
