Kerrigan Credited With Sack Vs. Rams

A review of last Sunday’s Washington Redskins-St. Louis Rams game by the league and Elias Sports Bureau has parlayed into a full sack for Washington Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.

The review comes at the chagrin of defensive end Stephen Bowen, who was originally credited with the sack on the play.

The play came at the 5:27 mark of the third quarter of last Sunday’s 31-28 Redskins loss. On 1st and 10 from the St. Louis 20-yard line, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford dropped back seven yards and was quickly ambushed by the Redskins defense — first by Kerrigan, and then by Bowen.

Kerrigan — who had a sack of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees in the Redskins’ 40-32 Week 1 victory — now has a team-leading two sacks. He also has six tackles, one pass deflection and a team-best eight quarterback hurries.

The Purdue product had 7.5 sacks for the Redskins in his rookie year last season.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall and outside linebacker Brian Orakpo — who had season-ending surgery this week to repair a torn pectoral muscle suffered against the Rams — also have one sack apiece for the Redskins (1-1).

And despite having the sack taken away, Bowen is still having a solid season thus far, racking up nine tackles, six quarterback hurries and three knocked-down passes.
