What is National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell’s No. 1 draft pick when it comes to grilling?
He answers that question — and several others — as a guest on this week’s edition of SportsTalk 570′s “Tailgating With Bertie And Guy.” You can listen to the entire episode below.
Here’s some snippets from the appearance by Goodell, who attended college in Pennsylvania and added that he used to be a Redskins fan:
On his hopes for the rest of the NFL season after an exciting Week 1:
“Well, I hope it’ll be just what the first week was — unpredictable. You know, lots of great performances, both from teams and individuals, and the fans not really able to predict who those teams and individuals are that are going to emerge, and I think that’s great for fans.”
On the things that keeps him up at night:
“How we continue to make the NFL safer for our players; and how we make it better for our fans. Those are critical issues that I continue to toss and turn over.”
On his first fan experience in the NFL:
“I was a Redskins fan at one time. … My first experience in football, I grew up here in the Washington area, but I had to be a Colts fan at the time. I can remember going up to Memorial Stadium with my dad and couple brothers. It’s just that experience of being in the stadium and being part of that — it just stayed with me, and it was obviously my first exposure to NFL football. I still love going to the stadiums with that same feeling. It’s exhilarating to me, and it’s exciting, and I love being there — not just for the game, but to also to be with everybody else to share in that experience.”
