We Want Your ‘Griffining’ Photos!

Posted by Andrew Walker on September 10, 2012 – 3:07 pm

(AP photo)

Tim Tebow had his time in the spotlight last season with his celebratory pose that became known as “Tebowing.”

But now, with Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III’s first NFL game, win and touchdown passes behind him, it’s only fitting that “Griffining” is taking the world by storm.

Griffining, the brain child of the fine people at Burgundy Blog, is a play off of Griffin III’s on-the-ground celebration as wide receiver Pierre Garçon scored on an 88-yard touchdown from Griffin III in the first quarter of Sunday’s season opener against the New Orleans Saints.

So how can you participate in “Griffining?” It’s quite simple.

All you need is a Twitter account and a way to send a photo of yourself doing your best Griffining.

Tweet a photo of yourself sitting on the floor with both index fingers pointed to the sky to the Redskins by using @Redskins and the hashtag #Griffining .

So a sample tweet would be: “Yo @Redskins, check out my #Griffining!”

The most creative photos will be posted to the site this week.

Have fun!

Have to agree, RGIII is the polar opposite of Tim Tebow and the circus in New York. Let’s be the bigger people here. Not stoop to their level… The kid is great. Let his play on the feild speak for itself. The Redskins do not need the circus antics.. Stay healthy guys and continue playing team ball and executing your assignments. HTTR!

Please Pleas Please do NOT start doing this. Please Don’t try and create A Tebow Mania with RG!!! Lets let him fly as under the radar as possible and just kick ass on the field! Look at the Best, Rogers, Brady, Brees, these guys play GREAT football and don’t need or want the “MEDIA BANDWAGON” Now look at the fakers Tebow horrible at his job and gets the media bandwagon, it can be very bad for a person player and team… Stop it

No no no! Please take this blog post down. There should be NO parallels between Tebow and Tres Griffin. No offense, but this is a terrible idea.

    Hail to ‘em

BDUNCANSCOTT: You really probably shouldn’t throw “Discount Double Check” Aaron Rodgers in your example. He has like 40 commercials and you’re trying to say that he doesn’t want a media bandwagon. This “Griffining” took place at the airport in New Orleans as a simple fun picture with some friends. None of these guys knew it would blow up like this and in no way, shape, or form is it to create a correlation between Tim Tebow and Robert Griffin. It is obvious to anyone that isn’t blind that Griffin is better. Quit being a lame fan and have a little fun. Its not going away.

bduncanscott: If you are going to reference people that are “great players” that don’t want to be a part of a “media bandwagon” you probably shouldn’t lead off your argument with “DISCOUNT DOUBLE CHECK” Aaron Rodgers. The guy has like 40 commercials and is not trying to stay out of the media spotlight. Now, to clear the air for all of you fans that are against the idea of being fans to the best thing that has happened to your team in years, I will say this: “Griffining” is a term used by a few fans that paid for a plane ticket from either Washington D.C. or Jefferson City, Missouri to attend the debut game of Robert Griffin lll in New Orleans. The gesture was a fun friend picture to post on facebook and be done with it but it blew up and attracted media attention. It was in no way, shape, or form meant to create any kind of correlation between Tebow and Griffin. Anyone that isn’t deaf, dumb, and blind knows that Griffin is better. It’s funny and its not going anywhere so I’d learn to enjoy it, live with it, and lighten up a little.

To the people that originated this; was a cool idea and pretty cool picture. I am not against what they did. I am begging all fans to not give this “Griffining” wings. This has nothing to do with what RGIII wants or doesnt want. It comes down to people that continue striking the pose and putting it out there for the media to run with. i believe it to be cool for the originators but thoughtless for anyone that tries to get publicity for here on… Just my opinion. HTTR!

For crying out loud, allow us to have some fun for once! We’ve suffered long enough as Skins fans and the moment we get happy about something you all demand to shut it down.

Let me tell you a little background on this. We took the picture to share with our friends because we were so amped about the huge win and being in Nola for the game! We true fans traveled to the game to support our Skins and the minute we post something that was supposed to be fun, you all attack us like we are Cowboy fans. Just chill!

We all know Tebow can’t hold a candle to RG3 and this “Griffining” craze isn’t going to phase or jinx him. Maybe you negative Nancy’s should lighten up and learn how to have some fun. I would hate to be trapped in your bitter lives!

Be happy that we are building a good team for once and not just throwing money at Free Agency acquistions.

Well said, Lavar. The whole Tebowing phenomenon was cool for Tebow, because he wanted to bring attention to God. This fertilizer will only bring vain attention to Robert. Not needed.

The Twitter account @Griffining started it all, not Burgundy Blog. One of the followers who sent in a picture to BB started @Griffining. BB didnt do anything, they didnt start anything, they just posted a picture from a follower. Dont give them credit. Give the credit to the actual Twitter account making it all happen.

This is terrible and ridiculous. He did this once. Tebow does this every 5 minutes. Don’t ruin our quarterback by being stupid and comparing him to the Jets personal punt protector.

I would like to see some commentary on the pose Robert struck after his second TD pass. In some ways (like his strong faith) he is like Tebow and that is not a bad thing! The man is a class act and he knows who to give the glory to.
Go RGIII, Hail Skins, Praise God!
