More Power Rankings, Same Story
Posted by on September 4, 2012 – 3:06 pmToday’s posts have already included discussion about where the Washington Redskins fall in this week’s ProFootballTalk power rankings, so unless I see another power rankings list that has the Redskins drastically lower or higher than the mid-20s at this point, it won’t merit much discussion.
There is, however, one theme that is apparent as I look over a few other national organizations’ power rankings: slowly but surely, the Redskins are improving.
That was the case in the power rankings this week for NFL.com, ESPN.com and the National Football Post.
Here’s a little bit of breakdown of each:

Get Ready For ‘Stache Bash’ Vs. Rams
Posted by on September 4, 2012 – 11:39 amFor those of you looking for added incentive to make the trip to St. Louis for the Washington Redskins’ Week Two game there Sept. 16, here you go.
The Rams will be honoring first-year head coach Jeff Fisher with an opening-day giveaway: A “Coach Fisher Stache.”
The game — apparently being billed as the “Stache Bash” — will be the Rams’ home opener, and it’s a highly-anticipated one because of the arrival of Fisher, a very respected coach who had a successful 16-year run with the Tennessee Titans organization prior to getting this gig in St. Louis.

How You Voted: Tampa Bay Game Polls
Posted by on September 4, 2012 – 11:07 amIt’s that time of the week again.
Here’s our look back at who you, the Redskins Blog faithful, predicted would excel against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Wednesday’s preseason matchup, as well as who you voted as the MVR(edskin).
One quick note: I was very happy to see a big increase in participation for this game. I certainly hope this trend continues.
The first poll, posted before the game, gave you readers a chance to predict who you thought would shine against the Buccaneers.
Here’s how the vote turned out:

No Change For Redskins In PFT Rankings
Posted by on September 4, 2012 – 10:11 amFor those of you hoping a 3-1 performance in the preseason would change much in the way of where the Redskins fall in some organizations’ Week One power rankings, then you’ll be disappointed by this:
ProFootballTalk today released its first power rankings of the regular season (they’re calling it their ‘Week Zero’ power rankings), and the Redskins fall in at No. 24 — the same ranking they were given before preseason play began.
Am I surprised? Not in the least bit.

Fletcher Teaching ‘Financial Football’
Posted by on September 4, 2012 – 9:45 amLondon Fletcher will begin his 15th NFL season on Sunday as his Washington Redskins travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints in both teams’ season openers.
Throughout his lengthy career, Fletcher has assuredly learned a thing or two about the financial world — knowledge that the Cleveland native is giving back today (on his day off, no less).
Fletcher is on a panel that includes North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan and State Treasurer Janey Conwell that is playing host to a “Financial Football” game at Wake Forest University in Charlotte, N.C.
