Can two-time Super Bowl winner Mike Shanahan lead the Redskins to the playoffs in his third season in D.C.? Will the talent-laden RG3 live up to his promise as the Redskins’ QB of the future? What’s the deepest segment on the squad? Did the $18 million salary cap hit hurt the Redskins’ pursuit of elite free agents?
Those questions dominated a taping of “Burgundy & Gold Magazine” at Branded `72 Pit Barbecue on Gude Drive in Rockville on Aug. 27.
Host Mike Richman and his special guests, Redskins legend Dexter Manley and ESPN 980′s Scott Jackson, also discussed the 10 new Redskins names added to the team’s all-time greatest list in honor of the franchise’s 80th anniversary this season: Clinton Portis, LaVar Arrington, Sean Taylor, Jon Jansen, Chris Samuels, Joe Bugel, Richie Petibon, Bobby Beathard, Roy Jefferson and Terry Hermeling.
The panel even considered a few other names that deserve to be on the list, including Darryl Grant, Clint Didier and Charlie Brown, all key players during the Joe Gibbs-glory years, as well as Stephen Davis.
(Disclaimer: The show was taped before the final cuts, so Tim Hightower’s name was mentioned as a member of the team this season.)

We now have a quarterback that can lead us into the playoffs. It all depends on how well our offensive line holds up. Go Redskins!
