Just because the expected starters are not expected to play much in tonight’s preseason finale between the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it doesn’t mean you, as a fan, shouldn’t be paying close attention.
There’s lots to be excited about for tonight’s game, which will give coaches and fans alike a more in-depth chance to see what the team’s second- and third-teamers play like in a game setting.
Can rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is expected to start tonight for the Redskins, match his high-level preseason performance against the Chicago Bears? Will a running back like speedy Tristan Davis show the coaches that he, too, deserves a roster spot? Will tight end Logan Paulsen continued to impress with his improvement in the passing offense? Can Lorenzo Alexander, whose played several positions for the Redskins, get settled in as the backup at middle linebacker behind London Fletcher? And can rookie cornerback Richard Crawford continue his all-around stellar preseason by playing solid pass coverage and possibly getting a big punt return or two?
