Saturday’s preseason game pitting the Washington Redskins against the Chicago Bears at Solider Field must’ve been a tough one for Felecia Gettis.
Felecia, the mother of rookie Redskins offensive lineman Adam Gettis, calls the Windy City home, but her son was starting at right guard for the opposing team.
Nevertheless, Felecia was clad in her No. 73 Redskins jersey and proudly cheering for her son Saturday night.
Adam Gettis was a stud on both sides of the ball at nearby Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Ill., where he was named first ream all-state and all-conference as a senior. He also helped lead his high school squad to the Illinois state championship in 2005.
After the game, Gettis said he was happy to get the opportunity to return to the Chicago area and play as a professional football player.
“It’s an awesome feeling,” Gettis said. “It’s something I’ve always dreamed about, coming back and playing against the Bears. I’m just blessed to have this opportunity and I’m just glad to be here. I’m glad to be here, I’m glad to be a Redskin.”
Here’s a video of Felecia Gettis, Adam Gettis’s friend Megan Howard and his aunt, Jennifer Williams, talking about their favorite Redskins player and wishing him well for his game against the Bears (special thanks to Redskins.com TV’s Jessica Monaldo for putting this together):
