We’ve got the video right here.
But Kerrigan was first utilized more as a studio analyst as he was questioned by Comcast SportsNet’s Rob Carlin about comparing Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III‘s rookie contract situation to his own just a year ago, when Kerrigan was the team’s first-round selection (16th overall) out of Purdue.
Here’s that video:
Kerrigan’s probably done thousands of interviews before, so I’m sure just talking off the top of his head came pretty naturally for him.
But then came the nerve-wracking part of the job: reading script off a teleprompter — live — with little to no experience when it comes to what to do with his hands, which camera to look at or how to interact with his partner, Comcast SportsNet’s Chick Hernandez.
Hernandez did a good job leading Kerrigan through the piece, which featured the outside linebacker leading into segments about Griffin III, the Washington Capitals and President Barack Obama visiting the U.S. Men’s Olympic team.
Kerrigan also shared how former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell gave a “phenomenal” speech to the Redskins prior to their season-opener last season against the New York Giants — a 28-14 Washington victory at FedExField.
Anyway, here’s the montage of Kerrigan’s experience last night on Geico SportsNet Central:
