If you’ve never heard an interview with Redskins’ rookie guard/center Josh LeRibeus, you’re really missing out.
Well, here’s your chance.
LeRibeus — who once referred to his weight loss as losing “a toddler off the side of my belly” — spoke on Friday with Holden and Danny on 106.7 The Fan.
Asked about a variety of topics like the recent Rookie Symposium in Ohio that he said was “definitely an experience,” his views about life on other planets, his favorite part about being an NFL player and his diet.
On his favorite part about life in the NFL, LeRibeus said it was “definitely the ‘no school’ aspect:’
“I can go an entire day, from six in the morning to six at night as long as it’s football, lifting, working out, running on the field — you know, learning, watching film. What I can’t do from six to six is having to study there in the middle, you know, just class. I can do football all day long.”
The offensive lineman from Southern Methodist University said he had a “welcome to the pros” moment when he collided with defensive lineman Chris Baker during an offseason workout:
“We’re sitting there at practice and we’ve got to go full-speed and we’ve only got our jerseys on. We got our helmets, luckily,” LeRibeus said. “And I’m sitting there, I’m blocking (Baker), and he just throws that big right hand of his and clubs, you know, I thought my head was going to just fall off. Nah, I hung in there, but it’s definitely been good.”
LeRibeus also talked about his diet and trying to keep the weight off after losing 70 pounds a couple of years ago. Seafood has been the name of the game for the rookie, though he’s also found a love for green beans and broccoli:
“They have some nice seafood — they have all kinds of crab, and I had my first lobster bisque the other day, and it was amazing. No, a lot of seafood, which helps too because grilled seafood is amazing for you, and I could eat that stuff all day long.”
