Redskins’ Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell this weekend is hosting his final Hall of Fame Golf Classic to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Mitchell — a Hall of Fame flanker and return man for the Redskins — has hosted the event since its inaugural event in 1990.
Friday’s event featured a sponsor and media luncheon at Lansdowne Resort, in which special guest Michael Wilbon of ESPN and others spoke highly of Mitchell and his involvement with the tournament and the LLS.
We were also introduced to another very special guest of this weekend’s festivities: Julianna Nicholson, a 6-year-old leukemia survivor whose energy and resilience throughout her diagnosis and treatment has been nothing short of amazing.
By the way, the public is encouraged to participate in Sunday’s tournament — which will feature around 50 Hall of Fame players — for just a $5 donation to LLS. Children 12 and under are free.
