Brian Orakpo knows a little something about making a splash as a rookie in Washington.
As a rookie in 2009, the outside linebacker out of Texas was selected to the Pro Bowl after accumulating 50 tackles, 11 sacks and one forced fumble for the Redskins.
So with everybody’s eyes on another Redskins rookie this season — quarterback Robert Griffin III — Orakpo had some expertise to share with the first-round pick out of Baylor.
Orakpo spoke recently with CSNWashington.com, and said having fun is the name of the game:
“The only advice I give him is just to have fun, man,” Orakpo said. “Go out there play the game that comes from the plan — act like you’re back at Baylor. Just go out there, play with a chip on your shoulder, have fun out there, don’t worry about the pressure, and everything will come into play.”
I’d imagine Griffin III will be more than willing to listen to Orakpo, who has one of the deepest voices I’ve ever heard.
I mean, seriously — this guy is touching Barry White territory. I’d love to hear Rak put together an album someday.
Here’s the whole interview with Orakpo, in which he says the Redskins “finally got our guy” in Griffin III:
