Brian Orakpo Appears on ‘Total Access’
Posted by on June 26, 2012 – 9:48 amBrian Orakpo isn’t about making public guarantees, but the Washington Redskins’ outside linebacker did have one message for Redskins fans Monday in his appearance on the NFL Network’s “Total Access.”
“The only thing that I’m going to say is will be a perfect time to be a Redskins fan,” Orakpo told the NFL Network’s Warren Sapp. “Because I think we have the things and pieces to really take that next step, and the sky’s the limit for us.”

10 For 80: Jon Jansen
Posted by on June 25, 2012 – 3:25 pmNote: The Redskins Blog will be profiling several former players, coaches and team officials eligible to be voted by you, the fans, in this year’s Redskins 80th Anniversary celebration. To vote for Jon Jansen or your 10 other all-timers to join the already-chosen list of the 70 Greatest Redskins, go to http://www.redskins80th.com/
He was about as country as country gets, known for driving his pickup truck full of fishing gear or even a Winnebago to Redskins Park for practices.
But make no mistake — though Jon “Rock” Jansen loved the outdoors and his country spirit, he also loved punishing defensive linemen, linebackers and anybody else who came his way in a career where he became one of the greatest right tackles in Redskins history.

Posted by on June 25, 2012 – 11:20 amDeion Sanders was “Primetime,” William Perry was “The Fridge” and Jerome Bettis was “The Bus.”
But Redskins’ rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is OK with his “on-the-field persona” simply being “RGIII.”

Gibbs Tabbed Tenth Best Football Coach
Posted by on June 25, 2012 – 10:18 amHe led the Washington Redskins to three Super Bowl titles and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, so it might come as no surprise that Joe Gibbs was recently ranked by one organization as one of the top football coaches of all time.
FootballNation.com last week ranked Gibbs at No. 10.

80th Tour Bus Visits Land Of Gary Clark
Posted by on June 22, 2012 – 10:25 amOn Thursday evening, the Redskins 80th Anniversary tour bus packed up and traveled two hours to Harrisonburg, Va., home of the James Madison Dukes and Redskins legend Gary Clark.
Clark met the Redskins contingent as the bus pulled into the Fraternal Order of Eagles State Convention parking lot, and joined Dexter Manley and Frank Grant as the stars of the show. Current star fullback Darrel Young was also in attendance, along with Hogette Danoette and the First Ladies of Football.
The veteran players each took their turns thanking the fans for 80 great years, and making predictions for the 2012 season. Fans ate up the optimism, shouting “RG3!” from the crowd (among other things) and cheering raucously.

Rivalries To Build Early For ‘Skins Rookies
Posted by on June 21, 2012 – 10:53 amThough I doubt Washington Redskins’ rookie quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins will be sharing their playbook knowledge with the Dallas Cowboys’ first-round selection, cornerback Morris Claiborne, the three are expected to spend a whole lot of time together next week
That’s because the NFL for the first time has decided to divide the rookies by conference for next week’s Rookie Symposium in Aurora, Ohio, meaning the Redskins’ 2012 rookie class will get the opportunity to get an early look at their NFC East foes.
