The National Football League and its 32 clubs are asking fans to help inspire the design of team flags that will help kick off the 93rd NFL season.
Thirty-two fans — one per team — will participate in the 2012 NFL Kickoff and will have their design concept incorporated into their team’s flag that will be on display as part of the Kickoff festivities in New York on Wednesday, Sept. 5, according to a release from the league.
What’s in it for you? Each grand prize winner will have their inspirational design concept used as a guideline to create the team’s flag, and that winner and one guest win a trip to New York to participate in the 2012 NFL Kickoff.
Fans may enter the Fan Flag Challenge at www.nfl.com/fanflags through Sunday, July 15, by submitting an entry in essay format describing their vision of the flag. Each essay should explain the inspiration for the participant’s flag design and why it’s meaningful to him or her.
Each team will participate on the judging panel for its flag.
The Kickoff celebration will lead into the opening game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
