It’s no wonder former Redskins’ cornerback Barry Wilburn was destined to become an All-Pro, Super Bowl-winning performer.

His mother ran on the same relay team in the Olympics with the legendary Wilma Rudolph.

Wilburn’s father, meanwhile, worked for Josten’s, the company that typically designs Super Bowl rings for the NFL’s champions.

Santana Moss: ‘Skins ‘Hidden Treasure?’

He’s caught 488 passes for 6,726 yards and 37 touchdowns in his seven-year career with the Washington Redskins, but some believe veteran receiver Santana Moss could still slip under the radar and have a big year in 2012.

Moss, 33, came into the offseason program this year 15 pounds lighter and focused on getting past the 2011 season, which saw him produce his fewest number of receptions (46) and receiving yards (584) since arriving in Washington in 2005, the same season he was selected to the Pro Bowl after having 84 receptions for 1,483 yards and nine touchdowns.

Redskins Fans: Design Your NFL Fan Flag

The National Football League and its 32 clubs are asking fans to help inspire the design of team flags that will help kick off the 93rd NFL season.

Thirty-two fans — one per team — will participate in the 2012 NFL Kickoff and will have their design concept incorporated into their team’s flag that will be on display as part of the Kickoff festivities in New York on Wednesday, Sept. 5, according to a release from the league.

What’s in it for you? Each grand prize winner will have their inspirational design concept used as a guideline to create the team’s flag, and that winner and one guest win a trip to New York to participate in the 2012 NFL Kickoff.

RGIII Face-To-Face With Slingin’ Sammy

It was one of those surreal moments that saw the Washington Redskins’ historic past meet its exciting future.

Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III — on a tour Wednesday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame with the rest of the Redskins’ rookies as part of the Rookie Symposium — was face-to-face with the figure of Sammy Baugh, the Redskins’ quarterback drafted in 1937 that led the team to two NFL championships.
