Redskins Tour Aboard The U.S.S. Mahan

The second stop of today’s Redskins 80th Anniversary bus tour took them on a tour of the U.S.S. Mahan in the Norfolk Naval Yard.
It was an awesome experience to climb aboard a Navy cruiser, especially one that had only recently returned from a tour off the coast of Africa. The executive officer of the ship briefly briefed the team on the details of the ship and the duties of the sailor that call it home for months at a time.
Almost every player in attendance had military ties with family and friends–most notably fullback Darrel Young, whose brother is currently serving in the Army. You won’t hear him yelling ‘Go Navy, Beat Army’ any time soon, but he has a certain affection for the work of soldiers and sailors alike.
