Cool Day For Erik Cook’s No. 1 Fan
Posted by on June 4, 2012 – 10:54 amIt’s not every day you get to meet your favorite player’s roommate — who also happens to be a professional football player.
But Saturday’s Washington Redskins 80th Anniversary Thank You Tour stop in Virginia Beach allowed 15-year-old Tessa Altman to do just that.
Though Cook — the third-year center and guard out of New Mexico – wasn’t one of the six active Redskins who went on Saturday’s two Thank You Tour stops at Virginia Beach and Busch Gardens, his roommate — Redskins’ longsnapper Nick Sundberg — was.
Sundberg spotted Altman in the front of the crowd wearing her burgundy No. 58 Redskins jersey, asked her to turn around and saw it had “ERIK COOK” on the back.
Sundberg told Altman he was Cook’s roommate, and she broke down into teenage tears of joy before he signed her jersey.
Altman, Sundberg and Cook then had a pleasant exchange about the encounter on Twitter.
Sundberg initially tweeted this:
Biggest @ErikMCook fan I've ever seen. She cried when I told her I was his roommate haha. lockerz.com/s/213868978—

Altman replied with this:
@NickSundberg Thank you, for today. I was the girl with the @ErikMCook jersey on. I was so happy I cried.#HTTR—

And Cook made it full-circle with this tweet:
S/O to @TRenee96! Wish I could of been down in VA beach yesterday to sign that awesome jersey!!!!—

It seemed like a pretty cool overall day for Cook’s No. 1 fan.

I just wanted to say “Thank You” to Nick Sundberg..Tessa is my daughter and she is still on cloud nine. This was the best time of her life. We have never had the opportunity to attend a game live, but she is truly a die hard Redskins fan. She has everything you can think of in Redskins. Thanks for tweeting her and sharing this wonderful day with her. thanks to Nick’s tweet, Erik found out about the day and I wanted to thank him too for tweeting Tessa…she can’t believe you all tweeted each other. Maybe one day she will get to meet Erik Cook and have him sign that jersey! Thanks again to all. HTTR!
