Redskins’ alumni, current players and executive vice president/general manager Bruce Allen were present Friday for the eighth annual Mickey Steele Celebrity Golf Tournament.
The tournament is named in honor of Mickey Steele, a Maryland native, sports enthusiast and business owner, who in 2004 lost his battle to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
In remembrance of Steele, his friends, family and former co-workers participate in the tournament annually to raise money for children’s charities.
The Redskins’ alumni at the event included Mike Bragg, Larry Brown, Gary Clark, Pat Fischer, Joe Jacoby, Billy Kilmer, Chip Lohmiller, Rich Milot, Mike Nelms, Ricky Sanders, George Starke, Charley Taylor, Doc Walker, Donnie Warren and many others.
Super Bowl XXXVI MVP-winning quarterback Mark Rypien also took part in the event, which was sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and benefits programs of the Rypien Foundation and the youth programs of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
Allen was joined at the tournament by current Redskins’ wide receiver Leonard Hankerson.
This year’s Mickey Steele Celebrity Golf Tournament was played at Queenstown Harbor Golf Links in Queenstown, Md.
