A day after helping unveil the Redskins’ newest 80th Anniversary Uniforms, linebacker Brian Orakpo wasn’t quite done with the surprises.
Orakpo on Friday made a surprise visit to Kenilworth Elementary School in Bowie, Md., to congratulate students by becoming a “Touchdown School,” according to a news release.
Schools that completed all six steps of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program were eligible to win the appearance by the all-pro linebacker.
Orakpo also tweeted a photo from the event Friday afternoon:
Fuel Up To Play 60 encourages students to make changes at school that helps them get active and play for at least 60 minutes a day. The program also encourages a student to maintain a low-fat, healthy diet consisting of dairy food, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein.
It’s these kinds of visits from childhood heroes that are often never forgotten for many youngsters.
