For his magnificent feats on the football gridiron, Redskins great Darrell Green has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame, the College Football Hall Of Fame, the NCAA Division II Hall Of Fame, the Texas Sports Hall Of Fame, the Lone Star Conference Hall Of Honor, and the Javelina Hall Of Fame.

But up until now, one of the greatest athletes to ever take the field in Washington was glaringly omitted from the city’s hall of fame.

Until now.

The D.C. Sports Hall Of Fame recently announced that Green was one of the six recipients to be inducted into the hall.  The ceremoney will be held at Nationals Park, before the Sunday, May 6th game between the Nationals and Phillies.

Green’s name will be added to the Washington Hall Of Stars list in the outfield, which used to be housed at RFK Stadium when the Redskins called it home.  Green joins 35 other Redskins in the Hall Of Stars, including 2011 inductee Brian Mitchell.

Congratulations, Darrell, and an honor that’s long overdue.
