For the first time since Jan. 2, Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan addressed the media this afternoon at Redskins Park. Needless to say, this experience was quite a bit different.
When last we spoke, Shanahan was carrying the burden of a 5-11 season on his shoulders. I’ve never seen him look defeated, but he was out of answers for his team’s performance, and frankly looked exhausted.
His demeanor at the time was the understandable reaction to a season gone awry. After the strangest offseason in NFL history, Shanahan led his team through a strong preseason and into a 3-1 start to the regular season. His offense ran like a well-oiled machine and his defense was well-rested.

Yesterday afternoon, the Redskins officially announced the return of linebacker Chris Wilson, who had previously been with the team from 2007-10.
Wilson took to Twitter to announce the exciting news, fielding a warm welcome back from Redskins fans and media types:

Originally signed as undrafted free agent in 2007 out of the Canadian Football League, Wilson was a reserve defensive end and linebacker in Washington, earning his paychecks on special teams. His versatility made him a valuable asset, and also gained him the mutual respect of fellow swingmen Lorenzo Alexander and Kedric Golston.
The three grew together in Washington, and gradually forged a friendship off the field. When Wilson signed with the Philadelphia Eagles last fall, it was a major disappointment for Lorenzo Alexander, who continued to campaign for his friend’s return. Read more »
