Kicker Loving The New Practice Bubble

The ending of last weekend’s AFC Championship game reminded everyone in the NFL that there is no such thing as an automatic kick, and that things can go awry from the moment coaches call for a field goal, until the ball hits the back net.
Plain and simple, kicking is a lot harder than it looks.
Part of preparing for tough kicking conditions is practicing repetitions in lousy weather conditions. But another part of preparing to do a precision task is to prepare in perfect conditions–the type made possible with a practice bubble.
Count Redskins kicker Graham Gano as a big fan of the new indoor practice bubble at Redskins Park. He tweeted his appreciation for the all-weather bubble a short time ago:

In his second full season in the NFL last year, Gano experienced his best statistical season, despite having 11 kicks miss wide or get blocked. For his career, he is 86 percent for field goals in a dome, and has never missed an extra point.

Hopefully there will be a truck load of competition for him. I can’t even watch when he gets called up. Gotta be able to make it in good and bad weather. We don’t play in a dome last time I checked.

We should corral the best FA kicker this season, CONNER BARTH from TB, and say goodbye to broke-backed GANO.

old FA’s
TIM HIGHTOWER, REX GROSSMAN, WIL MONTGOMERY, LaRON LANDREY, BYRON WESTBROOK, LONDON FLETCHER, KEYRON FOX, ADAM CARRIKER
and add new FA’s
MATT FLYNN unless franchised, WILLIAM GAY, CB, ANTONIO DIXON NT, DWAYNE BOWE WR, SCOTT WELLS C
then draft accordingly based upon what holes need filling, or slots need upgrading after FA.

i cant understand why alot of people are high on Flynn. i think most are just looking at the numbers he put up in the game he played. go back and watch that game and you will see wide open people, and you will see overthrows and underthrows, the WR’s made great adjustments. you cant just go by stats, you really need to see film study to see if he made the right reads or not. Mcnabb was let go in part because he was making the wrong reads (as well as dirt throws). coaches know where the ball should have gone on a play and they know if flynn made the right reads or not. i dont really see alot in flynn unless we got him for a 3rd round or so…

Heh! You make him sound a lot like the GROSS-man. If FLYNN’s price is too high, I’d be just as willimng to take WEEDEN with our third pick. Point is from here, it’s all guesswork anyway, right buddy?
