Final 2011-12 Redskins Madden ’12 Update

Posted by Brian Tinsman on January 12, 2012 – 5:52 pm

For all of you that waited so patiently for the season-ending Madden ’12 Redskins roster updates, this post is for you.

Over the course of the season, the fine folks at EA Sports made literally thousands of tweaks and adjustments to the virtual rosters, keeping them as close to the genuine article as possible.  Over the course of the season, there have been exactly 271 modifications to the Washington Redskins virtual roster, given to you on a week-by-week basis.

Yes, I counted them by hand.

With all of that being said, here are the final Redskins updates for this season:

The biggest riser in the entire virtual NFL this week was running back Evan Royster, who soared up five points with back-to-back 100-yard performances to close out the season.  This was well-deserved credit for Royster, who impressed me during training camp, but had to wait until the end of the season for an opportunity to carry the load.  All he did with that opportunity was finish the season second on the team in rushing yards.

It’s also worth noting that each of the four Redskins linebackers got a boost in the final week of the season.  London Fletcher needs no introduction, but remains one of the top real and virtual linebackers in the game.  Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan have the makings of one of the best pass-rushing duos in the league, and they’ve only been together for one year.  And the newcomer to the group, second-year linebacker Perry Riley, seems to have answered the questions of whether or not he can hold down the other inside ‘backer position.  This trend bodes well for the Redskins 3-4 defense going into next season.

Good luck to your virtual teams, and a hearty congratulations to each of your successful Redskins Madden franchises.  Game on!

    Helu deserves a big increase. Also Kerrigan should be higher in my opinion.Also i am a little suprised Orakpo go an increase.I like him but he struggled this season compared to last year.Gaffney should have an increase by a little, and Moss shouldnt lose any.I know he hasnt had a great year, but he is still great.

    @Nick–

    I pretty much agree with you assessment, but I’ve noticed that player increases/decreases are largely based on the success of the team. Had the Redskins won their final two games, there wouldn’t be nearly as many decreases and the increases would be more generous. Such is life in the virtual NFL.

    well the best thing for madden was the return of player modification. im not one who makes his players all 99 in every stat but more of the one who likes it to be really to real player stats as possible. i mean Perry Riley has outstanding acceleration and speed in real life but in the game it was really off target, so i guesstimated his speed compared to Orakpo’s and adjusted his speed and accl.. Madden always has made the starters abilities close but with the backups they were always off here or there. i mean they have Roysters speed i think it was 80? i would say his speed is more around 85-87 IMO. to make the game harder to play in season mode i make myself only get players in the draft, no trades except for my players for picks only ( no player for player) and i can only sign free agents from the left overs after the free agent bidding is over. its no fun winning all my games 70- and up to nothing. this way at least it makes the games competitive, still its easy to always go 19-0. my roommate (my gf’s brother) and i even set the computer players mass settings to 90 and ours down on all to 20, we had them at 5 but no one could catch a pass nor block. it was really fun and we had to change the way we played our game to adjust for computer teams way better settings then our team.
    if you would like to add me my PSN name is snyper94z28, just put redskins in the title so i know were your contacting me from.

    be safe everyone and HTTR,

    Chad
