Week 13 Power Rankings Roundup

A lot has been said about the character in the Redskins locker room this season, it was only a matter of time until it paid off.  Given the long odds of beating a team on a roll, on the road, in the wind and rain, after a short week of practice, I don’t know that a low-character team wins on Sunday.  I don’t know that any road team can come back from 10 points down with 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter and score two touchdowns, without a huge dose of leadership.

It was a total team win, and they needed everyone on board.

This week, they’re being universally rewarded for their efforts.

Check out your Week 13 official NFL power rankings:

CBSSports.com gave the Redskins No. 26, holding steady from No. 22 last week:

FoxSports.com elevated the Redskins to No. 20, up from No. 24 last week:

NBC/Profootballtalk.com bumped the Redskins back to No. 28, up from last week’s No. 30:

ESPN.com raised the Redskins to No. 23, up from last week’s No. 26:

NFC East blogger for ESPN.com, Dan Graziano–who was an early-season champion for the Redskins, but faltered as of late–liked what he saw from the team on Sunday.  He credits the new-look running game as the key to the Redskins success for the season stretch:

Finally, a tick back up for the Redskins after a six-week plummet. Mike Sando, who I think was at the game Sunday and (correct me if I’m wrong, Mike) has attended two of Washington’s four victories this year, has them all the way up at No. 20. Hey, they could win a couple more now that they’ve rediscovered their run game. I never thought they were a bottom-rung team, and technically they could hit my preseason prediction of 7-9, although they’d need to shock some people along the way.

Now that the monkey is off their backs, the key for the Redskins now is to focus on each individual game as they come.  Each of the next five weeks presents a new challenge, starting with this weekend’s matchup against the Jets.  If they can execute like they did last Sunday–particularly on offense–then they can expect to rise back up these lists.
