Last Tuesday, the Redskins cut receiver Donte Stallworth and defensive lineman Darrion Scott. On Sunday, the Redskins lost receiver Leonard Hankerson and defensive lineman Kedric Golston to season ending injuries.
This Tuesday, the Redskins have re-signed Stallworth and Scott, solidifying positions of need on the team.
And they also brought back two of the best-liked Redskins to a locker room that needs their positive motivation.
Even after being cut on the week of his birthday, Stallworth was a positive motivator to his former teammates, many of whom he had selflessly mentored since training camp:
DeJon Gomes was especially touched:
Donte Stallworth is a class act. It was great to see him make the team, and his humble influence over his teammates ranges far beyond the gridiron. After the signing today, he simply tweeted:
Back to work, No. 19.
And he will be joined by fellow player-favorite, N0. 93, Darrion Scott. Here’s the aloof conversation that he had with teammate Adam Carriker as the re-signing process took place:
Good to have both of these guys back in the Burgundy and Gold.
