Hightower: Facial Hair Equals Hard Work
Posted by on October 19, 2011 – 10:12 amVia an interview on BroBible.com [Editor's Note: potentially NSFW], Redskins running back Tim Hightower discusses his secret weapon to getting back out on the field.
Hightower typically sports a clean-shaven look, plus a triumphant mustache on gamedays. But catch him in the middle of the week when he’s working to improve, and it’s a different story:
We’re curious about your facial hair. Do you think it gives you power that some of these bare-faced mortals might now have — especially the ones trying to tackle you?
I’m in my grind right now. It’s rough, hard working, get back to work phase. I don’t need my grandmother to be on me right now. I just need to shave.
Having come over from the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason, where he worked with former Redskins Hog Russ Grimm, Hightower was also asked about his memories of the Grimm mustache:
How much are you going to miss (Cardinals assistant coach) Russ Grimm’s mustache?
I don’t miss his mustache. He was a great coach but I don’t miss his mustache.
Sounds like facial hair is a reflection of attitude for Hightower. In that case, the running game is going to need a full-bearded effort this week to get back on track.
