Redskins: No Rest For The Eager

Posted by Brian Tinsman on October 11, 2011 – 4:53 pm

This isn’t a team that soaks up the down-time.

After the Week 1 victory over the Giants, the players declined a Victory Monday.  Every Tuesday morning–a league-wide day off–has seen many players show up to watch tape and lift weights.

At this afternoon’s All-Star Survivor Celebration, safety Reed Doughty was in the building to support his “Team Captain” wife.  He looked oddly out of place in a sea of pink-clad ladies, and seemed to be itching for something to do.

“They better give me something to do quick,” he said with a smile, “or I’m gonna go eat and watch film.

Last week when head coach Mike Shanahan told his team that they would have five days off, there wasn’t the roar of applause that might occur in your average office building.

The players know they are on a roll right now, and they want to keep it that way.

“I feel good,” said cornerback DeAngelo Hall after yesterday’s first practice back.  “I kinda wish we didn’t have as much time off as we had.  I think a lot of the guys were a little bit tired out there today, a little rusty, but we’ll work ourselves back into the shape we need.  Coach gave us conditioning after practice today too, to wake the legs up a little bit.  We feel pretty good though.”

After a good start to the season, there are still 12 weeks to go, and this team isn’t resting on anything yet.

Check out Hall’s full interview below:

CAn u write a story on hankerson. i didnt like him going into the draft or coming out of it. i thought that drafting based on size alone is a repeat of 2008. i find it interesting that stallworth and paul r ahead of him on the chart. thanks, alex.

    p.s. u r doing a good job as the new bloger 🙂

Brian – are you interested in interacting with some tailgaters on Sunday? If so.. my friend and I, along with his family will be tailgating in the corner of one of the green lots all morning.

I’m being told we’ll be in line waiting until the gates open, so whenever the gates open, you can expect us to be setting up shortly after! Here’s a google link that demonstrates where we expect to be:
