Bye Week Isn’t All Fun And Games

Last week, we learned that lots of players had relaxing bye weeks planned, from head coach Mike Shanahan’s family-first focus, to receiver Anthony Armstrong’s tropical stay-cation.

But not everyone kicked back and relaxed over the bye week.

For players that joined the team this offseason as free agents, this was the first down time since the end of July for them to get organized. Punter Sav Rocca was a free agent, and makes his offseason home down under in his native Australia.  After living in New Jersey during his time with the Eagles, it was time for a little bit of reorganizing this past week.

“I got away and went back up to Jersey, seeing if we can sell our house up there” he said of his bye week.  “We’ve still got a little bit of furniture up there, so we moved that back down.”

Fortunately, Rocca didn’t lift too many couches with his legs, and saved a three day weekend to relax and “chill out with the family a bit.”

Players are back at the facilities preparing for practice, and they seem to be emotionally recharged as they prepare for the Eagles: Read more »

Players React To Passing Of Al Davis

Posted by Brian Tinsman on October 10, 2011 – 11:10 am

Yesterday, the NFL community mourned the passing of Raiders owner and former AFL commissioner Al Davis.  The Redskins and NFL both released statements of condolences, and Redskins players did the same via twitter:

The only member of this quartet to have ever played against Davis’s Raiders, was linebacker London Fletcher, who played them four times.  Safety DeJon Gomes grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, and remains an avid follower of their sports.

Davis was an iconic NFL personality that will certainly be missed by its members.

Vicks Searching For Most Dedicated Fan

Posted by Brian Tinsman on October 10, 2011 – 9:47 am

Admittedly, when I first got this email, I read it as “Vick searching for most dedicated fan,” and I nearly pressed delete.

It must be Eagles week.

This is actually a really cool promotion between Vicks NyQuil/DayQuil and the NFL.  I know how dedicated the fans are in Redskins Nation, so let’s get some Burgundy and Gold winning the “fan inspired swag.”

For more information, go to their facebook page, or continue to read.

WHAT: This marks the second year for the contest, in which Vicks is asking NFL fans to prove they are “Fan Enough” to be crowned the winner of MDF 2.0 with the ultimate fan experience – an all-expense-paid trip for two to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI.

CONTEST DETAILS: To enter, fans that embody the spirit of a true fan should visit http://www.Facebook.com/NyQuil and submit a photo, with a personalized rallying cry that shows why they are the Most Dedicated Fan. Next, 32 finalists, one from each NFL team, will be selected and the final voting period will begin. Shortly after the NFL’s regular season comes to an end, the winner of the MDF 2.0 contest will be announced.

Finalists from all 32 NFL teams will be asked to compete in three Facebook challenges that will put their fanship to the test. The grand prize winner will earn the bragging rights to be called the Most Dedicated Fan. NFL fans who think they have what it takes should visit http://www.Facebook.com/NyQuil for contest rules and to enter.
