Has This Team Exceeded Expectations?

A recent article by Gil Brandt of NFL.com, breaks down the teams that have exceeded, met, and disappointed preseason expectations.

After winning three-of-four to start the season, the Redskins are listed as a team that exceeded expectations:

Washington Redskins (27): This team is much better on defense. Their points allowed have dropped while the sack total has risen. They had seven sacks against the Rams. Still, Rex Grossman is the key. He must avoid bad plays, and to help him do that, Washington needs to run the ball more. If that happens, they can win the NFC East.

Lofty predictions for a team that was unanimously listed as last place in every preseason pontification.  But I would also argue that the premise of writing an article based on expectations is rather foolish, because everyone has their own expectations.

So I’ll turn this one over to you:

After dominating Pittsburghs and baltimores staters they’ve met my expectations from preseason but I agree with brandt that rex is the key to our ultimate success. Drafting a qb next year in rounds 1-3 is a given no matter what happens. Even sitting atop the nfceast at 3-1 there’s still work to be done and haters hating. Rec just needs to manage every game

Rex will lose games just like he did against DAL. The INT in DAL was after our D completely dominated their O for 3 consecutive drives which gave them
Life and why the he’ll would he scramble in the first place instead
Of throwing the ball away and stopping the clock? He’s terrible on a team with a playoff defense and running game!

If anyone had the Skins beating the NYG in preseason before we knew their secondary and Tuck and ILB were hurt, they were dreaming. Grossman is terrible and if STL didn’t drop 2 INTs in the first half we wouldn’t have won. Let’s see what Beck is during the regular season before we go into the draft or sign a guy like Henne or Gerrard. Henne is a NFL QB and with a running game and good OL he would excel. Parcels doesn’t miss very often and I think he left bc team went away from his vision. Landry Jones would be an incredible pick if he
    Landed in or lap!

Josh Wilson is playing well but needs to play for the int. A bit more. And Hall is playing like always hit or miss but without ints…. Guess who has 2 Carlos Rogers he also had more pd then both our starters!

Give me a break. Just by having the headskins winning a single game exceeds everyones expections. But they are going to loose big to the eagles this weekend.

They have met my expectations as a team, but Grossman has done a good job not costing the team games by his play, he has made good decisions with the ball…the cowboy game was a goof the defense blew that game by not thumping Romo and taken advantage of all the opportunities that the Cowgirls gave them….that one is on them…KT
