Redskins Running Short On Hamstrings

The Redskins have come out of a shortened offseason in surprisingly good shape, and relatively *knock on wood* injury-free.  But sometimes the worst injuries are the “nagging” ones, and moody hamstrings have been a concern for the Redskins this week.

Yesterday, head coach Mike Shanahan reported that receiver Anthony Armstrong, fullback Darrel Young, and safety DeJon Gomes were all limited, but didn’t think conditioning was an issue.

“Y’know, I don’t think so,” he said.  “Anthony’s in good shape, he just kind of pulled it on one of the routes. I don’t know with DeJon, what happened with him. We had Darrel do some practicing on Thursday, so you really don’t know. Maybe they’re a little tight, not quite loose enough. We’re going to make sure they get a good stretch, because we can’t afford to have any more pulls, that’s for sure.”

Going into the last game before the bye week allows coaches to rest players that aren’t quite healed.  But don’t expect that to mean that Shanahan will push for injured players to go if they aren’t ready.

“No, it’s like every other week,” he said.  “I mean, if they can go, they can go.  If they can’t…you just don’t know.  Some guys heal a little bit quicker than others.”

Players have practice today and walk-through tomorrow to show that they’re ready for Sunday.
